AM Backup 3.0 beta
Filed Under Tech | Leave a Comment
Yes, you’ve all been waiting for it and it’s coming. Development to transition from AMBackup 2.0 to AM Software Backup 3.0 will begin as soon as finals are over. So, what’s so special about it? Why would you use it over a premium product?
- Redesigned interface (think 3-4 screen wizard)
- CD and DVD Writing support for your data
- FTP Backup (upload backed up data to ftp rather than copying to a folder)
- Incremental/Warm Backup (Updates backed up files in the background with no user intervention)
- Warm Backup + FTP Backup
The last two will take a bit more time to get into Backup. I’ll probably implement vanilla FTP backup and CD writing, in addition to the new interface FIRST, then move onto the others.

QuickBurn

The latest amromousa.com software, QuickBurn will be on the site as soon as I polish it up a little. Rocketdivision.com was nice enough to provide a CD/DVD burning API to make it possible. It will burn basic data CDs and DVDs. It does not write DVD-Video or CD-Audio discs.

So Crucial sent back my RAM and I put together the PVR and reinstalled the software — it’s working well. I’m very happy that I can record South Park again.

New content management system
Filed Under Tech | Leave a Comment
Well, in a never-ending trend, I’ve switched to Wordpress from drupal. Drupal themes just seem to have way too many issues with Internet Explorer and I need something a bit more compatible. I know they’re in totally different categories as far as CMS’ go, but this’ll do the job.
This change also gave me a chance to reorganise the website and give the two main applications their own webpages. I’ll throw some screenshots of each up shortly.
I’ve also removed the forums from the website since they’re useless on such a small scale and will be installing the gallery again shortly (Coppermine decided to go nuts on me and deny my admin login so I am going to either reinstall or look at an alternative).

almost in a car wreck
Filed Under Life | Leave a Comment
I live in Atlanta..was going down West Peachtree St., a one-way road and some asshat in a new truck decides to go the WRONG WAY FOR A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE to get into a particular parking lot. He was in my lane coming right at me and SWERVES at the last second (felt like I was playing chicken or something). Needless to say I had to lock up my breaks, back end fishtailed a little but I was able to get it back into the lane, and luckily no one was right next to me so no wreck happened. I held my horn for a good 3 seconds afterward and just wanted to get out of the car and give the idiot a swift kick to the rear.
